Families of Faith
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), paragraph 1666, says, “The Christian home is the place where children receive the first proclamation of the faith. For this reason, the family home is rightly called ‘the domestic church,’ a community of grace and prayer, a school of human virtues and of Christian charity.”
To help form these ‘domestic churches,’ the priests and Director of Faith Formation at Most Precious Blood invite all parish families with children in Pre-K through 5th grade to participate in Family of Faith. These families strive to grow in holiness through their relationship with Jesus Christ as Catholic Christians, together with other Most Precious Blood families.
Family of Faith is a mandatory component of sacramental preparation for children who do not attend Catholic school; however, families with children who are preparing for sacraments and attending a Catholic school are invited and encouraged to participate.
How does it work?
For 2025-2026 academic year, we will continue using a resource based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) and published by Sophia Institute Press, Family of Faith. This year the focus is on the fourth pillar of the CCC in Family of Faith Volume 4: Christian Prayer. It is not necessary to have completed Volume 1, 2, or 3 to participate.
These materials include a Parent Guide and Student Activity books geared to a variety of ages. Families who are new to Family of Faith this year will receive a copy of the Catechism and a Bible.
From September through April, parents will meet on the first Tuesday of the month for instruction (catechesis) and small group sharing on the theme and focus of the month. This will help them guide and instruct their children.
Families will gather one Sunday per month following the 9:00 am Mass for group activities that reinforce the lessons and bring everyone together for a meal and fellowship. Flocknote is the means of communication for Family of Faith activities and reminders.
An information meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 18, 2025, at 6:30 pm in the Parish Hall. Materials, including books and a calendar of events, will be distributed at the meeting.
Registration is available at this link through October.
